My name is Alfonso Junior, but everyone knows me as Tchéco. I’m originally from Guatemala, and that’s where it all started — long before I became a professional barber.
A Passion Born at 12
I started cutting hair around the age of 12 or 13, practicing on my friends. That’s how the passion was born. I would see guys show up on Monday at school with sharp fades, clean lines, really neat cuts. I wondered how they did it.
So I started looking into it, and I decided to take action. I asked my parents to buy me a clipper, and that’s when I started cutting my brothers’ hair.
From Fun to Real Craft
At first, I was just doing it for fun. It brought style to the neighborhood. Then I started knocking on doors, asking people if they wanted a haircut. Some said yes, others said no. But those who gave me a chance became my clients.
I started making business cards, and that’s how it all began.
Born With It in My Blood
I think I was born with this in my blood. My real calling wasn’t sitting behind a desk. My real calling is being a barber.
