Behind every great barbershop is a story. At Absolut La Prairie, ours starts far from a hair salon \u2014 in the streets of a neighborhood, with a borrowed clipper and a passion that never faded.<\/p>\n

The Beginnings in Guatemala<\/strong><\/p>\n

My name is Alfonso Junior, but everyone knows me as Tch\u00e9co. I’m originally from Guatemala, and that’s where it all started \u2014 long before I became a professional barber.<\/p>\n

A Passion Born at 12<\/strong><\/p>\n

I started cutting hair around the age of 12 or 13, practicing on my friends. That’s how the passion was born. I would see guys show up on Monday at school with sharp fades, clean lines, really neat cuts. I wondered how they did it.<\/p>\n

So I started looking into it, and I decided to take action. I asked my parents to buy me a clipper, and that’s when I started cutting my brothers’ hair.<\/p>\n

From Fun to Real Craft<\/strong><\/p>\n

At first, I was just doing it for fun. It brought style to the neighborhood. Then I started knocking on doors, asking people if they wanted a haircut. Some said yes, others said no. But those who gave me a chance became my clients.<\/p>\n

I started making business cards, and that’s how it all began.<\/p>\n

Born With It in My Blood<\/strong><\/p>\n

I think I was born with this in my blood. My real calling wasn’t sitting behind a desk. My real calling is being a barber.<\/p>\n

Today, that same passion that had me knocking on doors in the neighborhood drives every haircut we do at Absolut La Prairie. Every client who sits in our chair gets the same attention as my very first clients \u2014 because for me, this isn’t just a job, it’s who I am.<\/p>\n
